Os Butthole Surfers formaram-se em 1981, e sao considerados como banda de rock alternativo, nao tendo um genero especifico. Misturam metal, punk, rock psicadelico, noise, com um grande sentido de humor. O Electriclarryland e de 1996, e foi o seu album de maior sucesso comercial. Meus amigos, baixem que realmente vale a pena!! Butt'n'roll!!

The Butthole Surfers formed in 1981, and are considered as an alternative rock band, not sticking to any specific genre. They mix metal, Punk, rock, psychadelia, and noise with a great sense of humor. Electriclarryland was released in 1996 and was their biggest comercial success. My friends, grab it, it's really worth it!! Butt'n'roll!!

Esta e a banda sonora do filme Singles, que passou meio despercebido (realmente nao era grande filme). O que sobressai no filme e a qualidade da musica que retrata com grande qualidade o "boom" do grunge no anos 90. Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains e outros fazem parte deste album que nao e so uma curiosidade, mas tambem um muito bom album.
Singles'n'roll!!

This is the original soundtrack of the movie Singles, movie which passed more or less unnoticed (it really wasn't a great movie). What stands out in the movie is its soundtrack that pictures with excellent quality grunge's "boom" in the early 90's. Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and others make this album not only a curiosity but an excellent album. Singles'n'roll!!

Os Stranglers sao mais uma daquelas bandas que influenciaram muita gente. Comecaram a sua carreira em Inglaterra em 1974, ligando-se ao movimento punk, mas a sua musica abrange muito mais estilos. Continuam ativos hoje, mas o album que deixo aqui foca os primeiros 13 anos da carreira da banda. La Folie'n'roll!!

The Stranglers are another one of those bands that influenced many. They started their musical career in England in 1974, conneting themselves to the punk rock movement, but their music encompasses much more. They are still active today, but the album that I leave here focuses their first 13 years. La Folie'n'roll!!

Ha pouco tempo atras o Dagda do Caverna do Som disponibilzou os quatro primeiros albums dos Danzig, e eu aproveito o embalo para colocar aqui o quinto: Blackacidevil. Depois de se desligar do produtor Rick Rubin, Glenn Danzig decide experimentar com a eletronica criando um album com um som muito diferente dos albums anteriores. Devil'n'roll!!

A little while ago Dagda from Caverna do Som posted the first four Danzig albums and I'm taking his cue and posting the fifth: Blackacidevil. After disconnecting himself from producer Rick Rubin, Glenn Danzig decides to experiment with electronic music creating a very different album from the previous ones. Devil'n'roll!!

Curti muito Suicidal na minha adolescencia e nao me esquecerei nunca do concerto em Alvalade, abrindo caminho para os Metallica, onde estes grandes do hardcore rebentaram. Fiquem entao com a banda de Mike Muir (o mesmo dos Infectious Grooves), com um best of do C******!! Cyco'n'roll!!

I really dug Suicidal in my teen years and I will never forget the concert in Lisbon, Opening for Metallica where these kings of hardcore blew everybody away. Here's Mike Muir's band (yeah, the guy from the Infectious Grooves) with a F*****' brilliant best of. Cyco'n'roll!!

Sempre gostei de Reggae e de vez em quando coloco um album deste estilo aqui. O Chant Down Babylon e uma releitura de varios temas de Marley por varios artistas, utilizando as gravacoes originais. O resultado e muito bom e para mim e um album imperdivel que agrada a todos. Reggae'n'roll!!

I've always liked Reggae, And once in a while I post an album of this style here. Chant Down Baylon is a rework of several of Marley's songs by different artists, using the original recordings as a base. It works beautifully, and is an unmissable album. Reggae'n'roll!!

O segundo e um album que me foi apresentado por um colega de trabalho que tem um gosto musical impecavel, e nao podia deixar de postar. O For Beginners dos Killing Joke nao e para principiantes, mas e um grande album de temas menos conhecidos da banda. Killin'n'roll!!

Today I leave here two records for the price of one!! The first is the Temple of Love EP by The Sisters of Mercy, with Ofra Haza helping out on vocals. Love'n'roll!!The second is an album that a work mate (who has an impeccable taste in music) introduced me to, and I couldn't not post. For Beginners by Killing Joke is not for beginners, but is a great album of less known songs by this great band. Killin'n'roll!!

Os Body Count sao um dos projetos do rapper Ice-T, que mais polemica causou. A musica Copkiller, incluida na primeira edicao deste album, foi retirada mais tarde por ser apologista da filosofia do olho por olho, incitando a violencia contra a policia. Ha que ver que nesta altura havia acontecido o caso Rodney King, onde uma serie de policias de Los Angeles foram filmados a espancar um negro. Transparece neste album (e tambem nos seguintes) toda a raiva da comunidade negra, tanto no som como nas letras de Ice-T. Ice'n'roll!!

Body Count are one of the most polemic side projects of the rapper Ice-T. The song Copkiller, included in the first edition of this album, was withdrawn later for inciting violence against the police. We have to take into account that this was the time in which the Rodney King case happened, where a series of LA police officers were filmed beating a black man. All the anger of the black community shows in this album, both in its sound as in Ice-T's lyrics. Ice'n'roll!!

Ouvi esta banda pela primeira vez no inicio dos anos 90, e foi amor a primeira audicao. Os Infectious Grooves sao um projeto alternativo do vocalista dos Suicidal Tendencies, Mike Muir. O som e um crossover entre o funk e o hardcore dos anos 90, que para mim resulta numa daquelas misturas irresistiveis. Infectophibian'n'roll!!

I heard this band for the first time in the beginning of the 90's, and it was love at first hearing. Infectious Grooves are the alternative project of Suicidal Tendencies' front man Mike Muir. Their sound is a crossover between funk and 90's hardcore that, for me, is an irresistible mixture. Infectophibian'n'roll!!

Kings of Leon are a band composed of three brothers and a cousin that play a mix of southern rock with punk and indie, achieving an innovative sound, in my humble opinion. Good rock'n'roll and a 2007 album that I recommend to anyone that doesn't know them. South'n'roll!!

Yesterday I felt like Irish music, today here's some Welsh tunes. I've mentioned the Manic Street Preachers before. They are one of the very few modern bands that I truly enjoy. Send Away the Tigers is their newest record and continues the path of intelligent rock that the Manics have gotten us used to. Welsh'n'roll!!

Hoje estou numa de musica irlandesa. Os Pogues sao uma banda formada em 1982 que mistura o som tradicional irlandes com o punk. Tem um som muito caracteristico e letras muito bem conseguidas escritas por Shane McGowan, figura central dos Pogues. Fiquem com este Best of bem representativo da carreira desta banda. Shane'n'roll!!

Today I'm in the mood for some Irish music. The Pogues are a band formed in 1982 that mixes traditional Irish tunes with Punk. They have a very specific sound and extremely good lyrics written by Shane McGowan, the central figure of The Pogues. This Best Of is quite representative of this band's carreer. Shane'n'roll!!

Mad Season are one of those musical experiences that could never go wrong. Members of several grunge bands join efforts in 1994 and start Mad Season, and blow everybody away. In 1995 they release their only album that I leave here to remember those awesome times. Grunge'n' roll!!

Demorei para ouvir o novo album dos Smashing Pumpkins. Ainda bem que finalmente o fiz, porque vale a pena. O album e bem pesado e apesar de nao trazer grande inovacao sabe bem ouvir Billy Corgan de novo em forma. Smash'n'roll!!

It took me a while to listen to the Smashing Pumpkins new album. I'm glad I did, because it's worth it. It's quite a heavy sounding album, and despite not bringing much innovation, it feels good to hear Bill Corgan back to his old form. Smash'n'roll!!

Que melhor album para o meu retorno do que esta obra prima do rock australiano? Os AC/DC sao uma das minhas bandas favoritas com o seu rock bem pesadao e com uma energia infindavel!! O Back in Black foi o primeiro album lancado depois da morte do inesquecivel Bon Scott e lancou a era Brian Johnson nos vocais. E uma obra prima do rock, que recomendo a todos. Rock On!!

What better album for my return than this master piece of Aussie rock? AC/DC are one of my favorite bands, with their heavy rock and endless energy!! Back in Black is the first album after the untimely death of Bon Scott and the first one of the Brian Johnson era on vocals. It's a rock'n'roll master piece that I recommend to everyone. Rock on!!

Depois de uma longa ausencia o Whisky com Gelo volta com algumas mudancas. Para comecar agora as postagens estarao em duas linguas, Portugues e Ingles. Nao que eu seja de escrever muito, mas penso que o blog ficara mais acessivel a um maior numero de pessoas deste modo. Aos poucos verao outras mudancas. Se quiserem comentar a medida que vao acontecendo, sintam-se em casa. Por enquanto, seguiremos com a programacao habitual!! Rock'n'roll!!

Alice Cooper e um dos fenomenos de maior longevidade do rock. O seu primeiro album foi lancado em 1969, e 25 albums depois lancou o Along Came a Spider este ano. Este Greatest Hits e de 1974, portanto foca os primeiros 5 anos da carreira do rei do Shock-Rock. Os shows de Alice sao famosos pela mistura do rock com uma teatralizacao que vai buscar a sua inspiracao aos filmes de terror.

Os Skunk Anansie foram uma banda que me agradou muito desde a primeira musica que ouvi. Tocavam um rock poderoso, com uma vocalista completamente atipica, a Skin, uma negra de cabeca rapada e com uma voz que ia da raiva extrema a mais suave caricia. Tiveram uma carreira curta que durou entre 1994 e 2001, mas nesse tempo lancaram tres albuns que para mim sao excelentes. Deixo com voces o Stoosh de 1996, o segundo album desta banda. Rock'n'roll!!

Curto bastante o som dos Fischer-Z. E uma banda dos anos 80 com um som similar aos Men at Work. Tiveram uma carreira relativamente curta, tendo o seu auge sido entre 79 e 81 com tres albums de grande sucesso. E um som levezinho, sem grandes pretensoes, mas que me ficou no ouvido ate hoje. Curtam!!

No dia 10 de Maio de 1957 nasceu John Beverly, mais conhecido como Sid Vicious. Talvez a figura mais iconica do punk, morreu com 22 anos de overdose de heroina. A vida de Sid foi a definicao da famosa frase "Live Fast, Die Young". Deixo aqui o "Never Mind the Bollocks" um dos melhores discos punk de todos os tempos.

Intelectual rebelde, escreveu varios livros, mas e mais conhecido pelo seu trabalho com o Legiao Urbana, uma das bandas imortais da musica brasileira. Morreu em 1996, deixando uma legado musical que ate hoje influencia a musica moderna no Brasil. O album que deixo convosco e uma homenagem ao vivo de outros artistas a esta grande figura. Os Midnight Oil fazem-me lembrar a minha adolescencia. Ouvi-os pela primeira vez quando um amigo Brasileiro me emprestou uma cassete com o Diesel And Dust, e lembro-me de ter curtido o Beds Are Burning demais! Os Oil sao australianos de gema e tocam um rock com um som muito proprio, tendo sido descritos como "a unica banda a ter desenvolvido um som realmente australiano". Ativistas ecologicos empenhados, os Midnight Oil lancaram o seu primeiro album em 1978 e terminaram a sua carreira em 2002, quando Peter Garrett, o vocalista, conquistou um lugar no senado Australiano e decidiu dedicar-se a sua carreira politica. Curtam este acustico de 1993.

Tres amigos desocupados, no final dos anos 80, tiveram uma ideia para ganhar uns trocados nas ruas de Nova York. Pintaram-se de azul e formaram o Blue Man Group. Hoje em dia, os Homens Azuis tem shows permanentes em 4 cidades na America do Norte e 2 na Europa. Inventando instrumentos com materiais do dia a dia e misturando-os com os instrumentos tradicionais do rock, conseguem criar um espetaculo que vale muito a pena!!
